About Me

I’ve done quite a few different things in my work and personal life, from bookshop owner, caterer to presenting academic papers at conferences, among other things. 😉

I was previously a Police Community Support Officer. In that role, I realised I enjoyed supporting people to lead safe, dignified and independent lives. This led me to becoming a Personal Assistant/ Helper because I want work that contributes positively to others and offers time flexibility.

I am a member of Care Professional Organisation (previously NACAS) and you can find me on the Care Professional Register by looking up my PIN 211521.

I enjoy connecting with people and learning about them and from them. I believe honesty and integrity, empathy and kindness, make for a purposeful life. I am reliable, hardworking and level-headed, with a knack for problem-solving.

When I’m not working, I do archival research as I am also a historian and I volunteer at a hospice. In my leisure time, I’m usually listening to or reading non-fiction books,* watching documentaries, or playing with my dogs and going for walks in nature.

* Five of my all-time, favourite non-fiction reads:
* How to Love Animals in a Human-Shaped World (Henry Mance)
* Breath: The New Science of a Lost Art (James Nestor)
* The Seven Ages of Death (Richard Shepherd)
* Being Nobody, Going Nowhere (Ayya Khema)
* One Mind (Larry Dossey)
